Course Overview:

Fall Protection Training is an Entry Level course required for anyone pursuing a career that may involve work at heights. This course is a common pre-requisite on many industrial sites regardless of position. It can also be offered at the "Become an Instructor" level. Fall Protection training is a widespread skill useful across many different sectors, and is a mandatory prerequisite for Aerial Lift Training, Rope Access Training or Rope and Rescue Training, among others. 

Learning Objectives & Specific Outcomes:

Anyone who is required, by policy or legislative standards, to utilize a fall arrest or fall protection equipment in the workplace, must be certified to work at heights. This covers a broad spectrum of job titles. Examples would be roofers, electricians, construction workers, arborists, boilermakers, scaffolder’s, power engineers and millwrights.

Topics Include:

This 1-day to 2-day course outlines government regulations concerning work at heights. Trainees learn how to prepare for work at heights, how to identify and avoid fall hazards, and how to properly use Fall Protection equipment. They experiment with the different types of fall protection and learn how to care for, inspect and store equipment to prevent its failure. In addition, participants learn about rescue and emergency procedures, equipment limitations, and on-site safety responsibilities. Trainees have an opportunity to safely practice with fall protection equipment in a simulated workplace environment. This course is both theoretical and practical.
