Course Overview:
Rock Truck Training is a Heavy Equipment Entry-Level training course required for anyone who will be operating a rock truck on a worksite, such as in construction.
A rock truck, or articulated dump truck, is a piece of heavy machinery that can transport heavy loads in off-road environments. Like all heavy machinery, rock trucks can be very dangerous if operated unsafely. Consequently, operators must learn how to correctly operate rock trucks and how to spot potential hazards on the job site to foster a safe and efficient job site.
Our 4-day Rock Truck Training course combines classroom experience with hands-on training. In-class, participants learn relevant Provincial and Federal rock truck regulations, inspection techniques, electric and hydraulic systems, safety tips, and how to account for adverse weather and terrain. In the hands-on portion the instructor demonstrates proper operator procedures, covering topics such as startup and shutdown procedures, steering, load management, and more. Trainees must pass a written exam and demonstrate proficiency with the machine in a hands-on practicum to receive their certificate.
