Course Overview:
Sanding Truck Training is a Heavy Equipment Entry-Level course required for anyone who will be operating a sanding truck. A truck driver’s licence and 10th grade education is required, and other prerequisites may also include WHMIS training and Standard First Aid. Snowplow Truck Training may be a useful companion course.
The 2-day Sanding Truck Training Course combines classroom experience with hands-on training.
In-class, participants learn relevant provincial and federal sanding truck regulations, inspection techniques, safety tips, defensive driving, and when weather conditions require the deployment of sanding trucks. In the hands-on portion the instructor demonstrates proper operator procedures, covering topics such as navigating poor road conditions, loading sand into the vehicle, deploying the hydraulic mechanism, and more. Trainees must pass a written exam and demonstrate proficiency with the machine in a hands-on practicum to receive their certificate.
