Truck And Trailer (Load Securement) Training

Course Overview:

Truck and Trailer Load Securement Training is an Entry-Level Skills course required for anyone who will be transporting unsecured loads (i.e. logs, heavy machinery, etc.)

Learning Objectives & Specific Outcomes:

Sometimes when transporting large, bulky items or unusual materials, cargo must be secured in place. Improperly secured loads can become loose or fall off a trailer, presenting a serious safety hazard to other drivers on the road which could lead to accidents or fines. It is critical that the drivers operating these vehicles understand proper procedures to secure loads and perform regular inspections to ensure that they remain secure throughout the duration of a trip.

Topics Include:

The 2-day Truck and Trailer Load Securement Training Course combines classroom experience with hands-on training. In class, participants learn relevant provincial and federal cargo securement regulations, the fundamentals of cargo securement, and securement techniques for specific types of loads including logs, metal coils, concrete pipes, heavy equipment, and vehicles. In the hands-on portion the instructor demonstrates proper securement procedures, including tie-downs and blocking. Trainees must pass a written exam and demonstrate capability in a hands-on practicum to receive their certificate.
