Course Objective:
Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course certifies trainees with an Emergency Medical Responder Certificate which qualifies them to provide immediate lifesaving interventions.
Emergency Medical Responder Training is an Emergency Response Training course aimed at individuals pursuing work as ambulance operators and medical first responders. Trainees learn how to respond to emergencies, evaluate patients, and provide initial care and safely transport patients to a medical facility.
This 2 to 3 week Emergency Medical Responder course is an intensive training session that prepares trainees for a long-term career as a first responder. Trainees learn protocols for professionally responding to calls, pharmacology and drug administration, as well as safely lifting and transporting patients. Emergency Medical Response trainees will also practice first response techniques through simulated emergency scenarios with real subjects.
Additionally, students study human anatomy and the wide range of emergency situations that might present themselves in the field. These scenarios include: circulatory and respiratory emergencies; injuries (head and spine, musculoskeletal, chest and abdomen, etc); infections, illnesses (acute and chronic), poisoning, pregnancy, hemorrhaging, shock, and more.
Trainees must pass a closed-book test and successfully perform medical response in two evaluated scenarios to receive their certificate.
