Course Objectives:
Rescue Operations course certifies trainees with a Rescue Operator’s Certificate (equivalent to NFPA 1006 Level 1) which permits them to perform basic confined space and/or rope rescues under supervision.
Rescue Operations is an Emergency Services Training course. Trainees develop the skills to perform rescue in a variety of environments as part of a rescue team.
The 5-day Rescue Operations course combines classroom experience with hands-on training. In-class, participants learn the basics of rescue operation, including rescue scene management and organization, rescue strategies and tactics, levels of preparation and operational capability and team leadership and communication. Trainees discuss topics including rescue equipment, rescue knots, anchoring and rigging, patient packaging, accident prevention during rescues, tripod operations and more. The course also covers confined space classifications, entry permits, and hazard management. Trainees then spend their final day of training in the field, performing mock rescues. They must pass a written exam and showcase their competence in a hands-on practicum to receive their certificate.
