Hazmat Technician

Course Objective:

Hazmat Technician course certifies trainees with a Hazmat Technician Certificate permitting them to respond to Hazmat or WMD emergency situations.

Learning Objectives & Specific Outcomes:

Hazmat Technician Training is an Emergency Response Training course. Trainees develop skills necessary to respond to complex hazardous materials and WMD situations. They learn how to perform risk analysis, implementing response plans for containment, and decontamination of hazards.

Topics Include:

This 10-day Hazmat Technician course combines classroom experience with hands-on training.

Trainees learn how to analyze hazardous materials, consider potential outcomes of present hazards, and develop appropriate controls. They also learn about proper PPE, waste disposal as well as site decontamination. In the hands-on portion, participants perform simulated hazardous materials operations to demonstrate their proficiency in the topic and are evaluated on the effectiveness of their incident action plans. Students must also pass a written exam to receive their certificate.
