INSTRUCT Train The Trainer

Course Overview:

IRWIN'S Safety is pleased to offer Train-the-Trainer courses for it's various in-house developed industrial training courses. Becoming certified as an IRWIN'S Safety instructor in house gives your management the opportunity to offer up-to-date training courses developed by industrial professionals.

Learning Objectives & Specific Outcomes:

Having in-house trained instructors will allow you to provide IRWIN'S Safety courses with little prior notice to new hires or staff with expiring certificates. The benefit is that you can train just a few students at a time without worrying about a course minimum requirement, while also allowing you to have instructors placed in strategic locations with the most accessibility to all of your plants. Our intensive Train-the-Trainer program will give you assurance that your staff are being trained by competent instructors with the most up-to-date material, designed to keep students engaged.

Once  instructors have passed the Train-The-Trainer course, they will be prepared to instruct a class of students. That being said, there are some risks associated with putting your staff through the program. If you are experiencing high turnover, and the staff you put through this course do not continue employment, your investment in that individual will be lost with them. The other challenge you may face is the need to coordinate the logistics of the training. When we are hired to train a course, we manage travel, accommodations, quality control of the administration behind the course. While we do our best to make the process straightforward and unburdened, there can be an adjustment to comply with the paperwork trail.

Topics Include:

In order to become certified to train IRWIN'S Safety courses, instructors must have Industry/Field experience and take the Train-the-Trainer course. These courses are offered intermittently – to find out when the next course is running, or to arrange a private course, please contact training@irwinsafety.com. The Train-the-Trainer course is generally three days in duration. Once the instructor-to-be has taken a Train-the-Trainer course, they will need to participate in a co-teach and an audit.  Contingent on the co-instructor’s review of their performance, they may be certified to instruct once the co-teach is complete, or they may be requested to participate in an additional co-teach. If an instructor has gone through this process with one of our courses and wishes to be certified in another, the instructor does not have to participate in a second Train-the-Trainer. They simply take the new course, write the instructor exam, and participate in a successful co-teach to earn their second or third instructor certificate.
