Our certified rescue technicians are trained to perform both high angle rope rescue and confined space rescue. They can also perform wilderness and cave rescue, mine rescue, search and rescue, and even hazmat operations in hazardous rescue situations.

Confined Space Rescue Technicians
Confined space rescue is hazardous work and involves rescuing compromised individuals from confined spaces which may present environmental hazards. By their nature, confined spaces often mean reduced space to operate which may present unique challenges when dealing with injured or otherwise compromised subjects. Confined space rescues may or may not involve rope access.

High Angle Rope Rescue

In Rope Rescue situations with a higher degree of difficulty, High Angle Rope Rescue will be necessary. Our Rope Access Technicians are OFA Level 3 trained and have extensive knowledge of advanced rigging and rescue techniques and the relevant legislation. They are able to provide the following:

  • Structure and Hazard Assessment
  • Rappelling on Various Descending Devices
  • Pick-Off of a Casualty Hanging on a Lanyard
  • Raising & Lowering of Patient in Litter Basket with an Attendant
  • Patient Packaging
  • Special Application Rescue Equipment
  • Additional Safety Concerns
  • (Analyzing Force Vectors, Edge Attendants, Personnel Communication, Back-up Systems)
Rope Rescue Technicians

Rope rescue is hazardous work and often involves rescuing compromised individuals from precarious or dangerous situations and working at heights. Our NFPA-certified rope rescue technicians are NFPA 1006 certified and have 4-5 years of experience in rope rescue operations offering the ability to:

  • Maintain a high standard of compliance with regulatory and code requirements, and proper procedures and techniques
  • Maintain effective interactions with client representatives and staff
  • Ensure the care and correct use of technical equipment, tools, and other assets
  • Can work productively in adverse conditions

Rope and Confined Space Rescue

Rope Access

Whatever your rope access needs, take advantage of IRWIN'S field-proven group of professionals. Our Rope Access technicians are affordable and versatile because we cross-train in a wide range of skill-sets and we train locally to reduce transportation and accommodation costs.

 

Our rope access technicians have 4-5 years of experience and are cross-trained in multiple disciplines from first aid and fire rescue to electrical work, welding, window-washing and much more. There is a major value-added proposition in hiring rope access technicians as it saves money on scaffolding, aerial lifts, and other means of accessing at-heights workspaces.

IRWIN'S is committed to working with First Nations communities, both in servicing community needs directly and in providing employment opportunities. We provide localized rope access training to assist communities in emergency preparedness and help connect First Nations workers with rope access employment opportunities in the field. Rescue Training

Rope Rescue Training Level 1 (Operations)

Who is this course for?  This course is for anyone looking to further their life skills in rescue operations. It will provide you with a high degree of technical knowledge and experience with high angle and confined space rescue techniques.

The 3 day course consists of a combination of classroom and practical experience, plus an external evaluation. By the end of the course, participants will have a working knowledge of equipment identification and selection, anchoring and rigging techniques, packaging, and mechanical advantage systems. The focus is on confined space and high angle rope rescue. A participant leaving this course will understand the importance of protecting themselves while conducting a rescue, will be able to employ basic safe and efficient rescue techniques, and could potentially save the life of a co-worker or friend in a survival situation.

The Level 1 Operations course provides individuals with a limited ability to identify hazards, use equipment, and perform technical rescue operations as per NFPA 1006 standards.

Rope Rescue Training Level 2 (Technician)

Who is this course for? This course requires at a minimum Level 1 High Angle and Confined Space Rescue training or equivalent.

The 8 day course is a combination of classroom and practical groundwork, plus an external evaluation. By the end of the course, participants will have an advanced knowledge of equipment identification and selection, anchoring and rigging techniques, packaging, and mechanical advantage systems. The focus is on confined space and high angle rope rescue. A participant leaving this course will be professionally capable of protecting themselves in rescue situations, will be able to employ advanced safe and efficient rescue techniques, and can provide rescues in survival situations.

The Level 2 Technician course provides individuals with an advanced ability to identify hazards, use equipment, and perform technical rescue operations as per NFPA 1006 standards.

The Level 2 course will provide further instruction on all topics covered in the Level 1 course, as well as introducing the following:
