First Aid - Wilderness

Course Overview:

First Aid Wilderness course certifies trainees with a First Aid Wilderness certificate that prepares them for medical issues and emergencies that might arise in remote areas.

Learning Objectives & Specific Outcomes:

Wilderness First Aid is an Emergency Services Training course. Trainees develop the skills to provide First Aid in remote or compromised locations, where providing extended care and managing wilderness hazards may be required.

Topics Include:

This 3-day Wilderness First Aid course is a hands-on course taught in a remote environment. Trainees learn to respond to airway emergencies, circulation emergencies, wounds, head and spinal injuries, poisons, environmental emergencies, and more. Additionally, the course provides strategies for extended care (up to 24 hours) and develops skills for managing environmental hazards such as wildlife and a shortage of food or drinking water. Trainees must pass a written exam and may also be evaluated in a simulated environment.

Blended Wilderness and Remote First Aid:

Blended Wilderness and Remote First Aid is a combination between online learning modules and in-class training and testing. With blended learning, trainees can take the majority of the course online and only need to come into class for hands-on training and certification.
