Course Objective:
OFA 2 (Occupational First Aid) certifies trainees with a Level 2 Occupational First Aid Certificate. This permits them to work as a certified occupational first aid attendant on a worksite in BC.
Worksafe BC Level 2 Occupational First Aid is an Emergency Services Training course. Trainees learn to make scene assessments and provide patient care. L2 attendants provide basic life support, make transport decisions and communicate with relevant authorities and first responders.
This 5-day Level 2 Occupational First Aid course combines classroom experience with hands-on training. In-class, participants learn how to assess scenes and patients, make transport decisions, and effectively communicate with patients, authorities and eventually first responders. In the hands-on portion, participants learn extended first aid fundamentals, including responding to medical emergencies, handling conscious and unconscious patients, and providing basic life support. The course covers major and minor injuries, bleeding, head and spinal injuries, extreme temperature exposure and more, including the management of multiple-casualty incidents. Trainees must pass a written exam and a hands-on practicum to receive their certificate.
