Safety in the Workplace: Avoiding Sitting Disease

by Jackson Bonetti, on Oct 5, 2017 1:38:00 PM

When people think about safety in the workplace, they often only think of industrial safety, but safety has a place in all work environments. Research has shown that sitting for long peroids of time increases risks of health problems including obesity, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and abnormal cholesterol levels. Too much sitting also is linked to increases in the risk of death from cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Unfortunately, many of us work at jobs where we have to sit for hours a day or work at exhausting jobs where coming home and melting into the couch to watch netflix for a few hours is the most relaxing part of your day. Here is some information about "sitting disease" and what you can do to prevent it.
