Participants will:

- Identify various types of hazardous energy sources, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, and thermal.
- Learn the six steps involved in effectively locking out and tagging out equipment.
- Develop skills to implement and follow lockout/tagout procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Recognize the importance of proper communication and documentation during lockout/tagout processes.
Course Content:
This 8-hour training includes:
- Regulatory Overview: Detailed examination of federal and provincial regulations concerning hazardous energy control.
- Hazard Identification: Techniques for identifying and assessing various hazardous energy sources in the workplace.
- Lockout/Tagout Procedures: Step-by-step instruction on the six steps of lockout/tagout, including preparation, shutdown, isolation, lockout/tagout application, release of stored energy, and verification of isolation.
- Safety Protocols: Best practices for ensuring safety during maintenance and servicing of equipment, including proper use of lockout/tagout devices and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Communication and Documentation: Emphasis on the importance of clear communication and accurate documentation throughout the lockout/tagout process to prevent accidents and ensure compliance.
Certification:
Upon successful completion, participants receive a Control of Hazardous Energy certificate from IRWIN'S Safety, valid for three years. Trainees must pass a written exam to receive their certificates
