Course Overview:
Loader Operator Training is a Heavy Equipment Entry-Level course required for anyone who will be operating a wheel loader on the worksite. A driver’s licence and 10th grade education is required, and other prerequisites may also include WHMIS training, Ground Disturbance Level Two, and Standard First Aid.
This training program is designed to provide wheel loader operators with a solid foundation in health and safety standards, preventative maintenance and proper procedures for safe operation. The course consists of classroom theory with a written component and practical, hands-on experience.
In-class, participants learn relevant provincial and federal wheel loader regulations, loading procedures, inspection techniques, and general safety tips. In the hands-on portion the instructor demonstrates proper operator procedures, covering topics such as startup and shutdown, steering and positioning, and loading and unloading. Trainees must pass a written exam and demonstrate proficiency with the machine in a hands-on practicum to receive their certificate.
