PAL (Possession and Acquisition License)

Course Objective:

A Possession and Acquisition Licence or PAL is required for anyone in Canada who wants to own a non-restricted firearm. This training prepares a future gun owner to safely and responsibly own and operate a firearm following Canadian law and safety specifications/features.

PAL  is also required for anyone whose employment may require them to work with firearms or any person in Canada looking to purchase, inherit, borrow or operate a non-restricted firearm and ammunition.

Learning Objectives & Specific Outcomes:

The goal of the PAL course is to ensure that the student is able to safety and responsibly use a firearm. The PAL covers proper use and features of non-restricted firearms in Canada. This includes most rifles and shotguns with some limitations.

The desired outcome of this course is to teach students Canadian law regarding non-restricted firearms, firearm safety and maintenance. In addition, successful students will be able to pass the PAL exam to become legally certified to own a non-restricted firearm.

This one-day PAL course covers topics that include the safe handling of firearms and ammunition, firearm laws in Canada, how to store ammunition and firearms safely and safe transport of firearms.
