Course Objective:
Rescue Technician course certifies trainees with a Rescue Technician Certificate (equivalent to NFPA Level 2) which permits them to perform complex rescue operations and supervise rescue operators.
Rescue Technician training is an Emergency Services Training course. Trainees develop the skills and understanding to co-ordinate and supervise rescue operations, lead rescue teams, as well as manage rescue sites by planning and implement advanced rescue strategies and techniques. The focus is on at-heights and confined space rescues.
The 2-week Rescue Technician Training Course combines classroom experience with hands-on training. In-class, participants learn about rescue co-ordination and strategies, hazard management, and advanced rescue strategies. Rescue planning, leadership and site management strategies are also covered.
In the hands-on portion, the course reviews confined space rescue strategies and techniques and covers advanced rope rescue techniques including anchoring systems, mechanical advantage systems, line transfers, knot passing, rappelling, and more. Trainees must pass a written exam and a showcase their competence in a hands-on practicum to receive their certificate.
