Transportation Endorsement Training

IRWIN'S Safety offers a comprehensive Transportation Endorsement course designed to equip first aid attendants with the skills necessary to safely transport injured or ill workers to medical facilities. This one-day, in-class program emphasizes the evaluation of injuries, proper patient positioning, and packaging techniques, particularly for individuals with potential spinal injuries, ensuring their stability until professional medical help arrives.

Course Objectives:

The primary goal of this course is to certify participants in the safe transportation of patients, enabling employers to meet safety standards and legal requirements.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • Evaluate injuries to determine the necessity and method of transportation.
  • Apply hard collars and utilize spine boards effectively.
  • Position and package patients appropriately to prevent further injury.
  • Manage airways and circulation during patient transport.
  • Address non-spinal injuries prior to the arrival of medical assistance.

Course Content:

The training includes:

  • Understanding the causes and symptoms of spinal injuries.
  • Learning the "Circle of Care" approach for patient management.
  • Conducting scene assessments to ensure safety and appropriate response.
  • Performing advanced injury assessments to inform transport decisions.
  • Stabilizing the spine using appropriate equipment and techniques.
  • Practicing patient positioning in supine, lateral, or ¾ prone positions for optimal care.

Evaluation and Certification:

Participants are assessed through a written examination and practical demonstration of spine stabilization techniques. Successful candidates receive a Transportation Endorsement certificate from IRWIN'S Safety, valid for three years.
